A police chase through Perth came to a dramatic end when a van plunged 150 metres down an embankment.
Officers had been pursuing the Ford Transit after it was reported to have been driving erratically through the city centre at around 10.20pm on Wednesday evening.
When the driver ignored their blue lights, they continued to follow it towards Balthayock and it careered off the road above Kinfauns Castle.
This sparked a major rescue operation as several units from Scottish Fire and Rescue Service rush to the scene from Perth and Dundee.
Firefighters trained in rope rescue also attended, following reports a male was trapped within the vehicle, but they were not required.
A spokesman from Police Scotland’s Tayside Division said: “At about 10.20pm yesterday evening, officers received a report of a Ford Transit van being driven erratically in Perth city centre.
“Officers attended, activated blue lights, but the van failed to stop.
“The van continued along towards Balthayock where it left the road while trying to negotiate a bend.
“A 52-year-old man was conveyed to Ninewells Hospital, where his condition is being described as serious but stable.”
