The final piece of the licensing jigsaw for this year’s T in the Park has been slotted into place.
Operator DF Concerts requested an extension of hours in a move it said would give better value to music fans and help alleviate traffic congestion.
Event manager Colin Rodger appealed to the members of Perth and Kinross Council’s licensing committee for a noon start on the Friday of the festival instead of 4pm.
He told councillors: “The change in times will allow us to improve our current offering to day ticket holders.
“Specifically the benefits to the customer would be earlier access to the arena, allowing them to see more bands on the Friday and additionally, campers who have arrived on Thursday would also benefit from these changes.
“In terms of the local community, the changes in time should not have a significant impact at this time of day but instead the community should benefit from the traffic impact on the local road network being improved due to a predicted earlier and gradual arrival on site, making rush traffic later in the day easier to manage.”
Police, ambulance representatives and council officials raised no objections to the new hours and the committee unanimously agreed to the request.
