Police in Perth have launched a man hunt after a sex attack on the edge of the city centre.
Detectives are investigating after a woman was assaulted in a property in the city’s St Catherine’s Square just after 11am.
Her attacker tried to tear off her clothing and then attacked another man who tried to intervene. He fled before emergency services arrived on the scene.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that officers are making enquiries into a sexual assault that happened at an address in St Catherine’s Square today.
“Inquiries are at an early stage.”
A description of the attacker was not available.
About 10 minutes after the assault, an ambulance crew was called to the area and took one man to hospital. He is believed to be the person who tried to stop the attack.
A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call to attend Morrison’s supermarket on Caledonian Road to assist police.
“One male casualty was transported to Perth Royal Infirmary.”
