Margaret Dobie, a midwife and nurse who helped deliver countless Tayside youngsters, has died at the age of 93.
Born at Largoward in 1920, she was the youngest of 10 children and attended Largoward Primary and then Madras College in St Andrews.
She persuaded her parents to let her leave her home village, as almost none of her family had done, to seek a career in nursing.
Miss Dobie first spent time at St Andrews Cottage Hospital before training at Arbroath and passing her exams in Dundee.
She started a midwifery course at Perth Royal Infirmary in 1943, becoming a certified midwife the following year.
Miss Dobie worked first as a district nurse for a year, before becoming a staff nurse, sister, theatre sister, night sister and finally nursing officer.
During her career and during the Second World War in particular she trained Red Cross nurses in how to bandage limbs.
She eventually retired in 1980 to care for her brother and sister at the family home in Largoward although she retained her home in Perth.
Miss Dobie is survived by 18 nieces and nephews and their families.
