The incident occurred in the Ormond South Stand at around 2.20pm as United supporters were being moved to ease congestion. It is believed the steward was punched in the face. United fans have complained about the organisation at McDiarmid. A large turnout of visiting fans filled both the North and Ormond stands and meant some had to be moved to the Main Stand. Some fans reported missing the first 20 minutes of the match, which Saints won 3-0. Anyone with information about the steward attack is asked to contact police on 101.
