Community payback orders (CPOs) will be reviewed by Perth and Kinross Council.
Members of the local authority’s community safety committee will hear how CPOs have been available to sheriffs for use at court since February 1 2011.
Councillors will today learn that since April last year more than 14,000 hours have been used on community payback schemes in Perth and Kinross, encompassing a wide range of work, including the clearance of soil and debris around Aberuthven Village Hall and the clearing of waste ground near the Community School of Auctherader.
Community safety committee convener Douglas Pover said: “I welcome the findings in the 2012/13 annual report on community payback orders.
“There is no doubt the orders are playing their part in helping to reduce the local reoffending rate.”
Mr Pover added: “Key developments achieved overthe last year, including the offending women’s learning service, the complex case integration group, Tayside intensive support service, and the introduction of mentoring for offenders, are enabling the CPOs to build on their existing success.”
