A Coupar Angus man punched and stamped on a former friend as he assaulted him in a Blairgowrie pub.
James Brown, 27, of Sidlaw Crescent, left Ryan Forrest bloodied and bruised as a result of the attack.
Depute fiscal Ashley Pollock told Perth Sheriff Court the pair had been drinking in the Fair O’ Blair public house when they got into an argument.
They had arrived around 9pm with another friend and the argument resulted in the pair punching each other.
Brown punched Forrest until he lay prone on the floor and was then dragged away by witnesses.
However, Brown returned to carry on his attack and then proceeded to stamp three to four times on his victim’s side as he lay on the floor.
Forrest was left with blood pouring from his mouth and nose and his left eye was swollen and closed. Sheriff William Wood heard that the pair are no longer friends after the incident.
Brown admitted that on two occasions on December 28 last year at Fair O’ Blair public house, Allan Street, Blairgowrie, he assaulted Mr Forrest and repeatedly punched him on the head and stamped on his body, all to his injury.
Sheriff William Wood imposed on Brown a community payback order that included 270 hours’ unpaid work.
Brown must also undergo supervision for nine months and pay his victim £250 in compensation.
