Staff working at a department of the Perth Royal Infirmary (PRI) have gone without heating for almost a week.
A hospital source, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed many employees in the medical records department are being forced to bring hot water bottles into work.
With the hospital heating system failing in their department, they are wearing coats, sweatshirts and fleeces as they work.
Outpatient areas, including one for children, are also affected.
NHS Tayside confirmed the heating went off in areas of PRI on Thursday after intermittent problems earlier in the week.
Portable heaters have been brought in but the source claimed the they have not helped, with some staff working in temperatures of only seven degrees.
A spokesman for NHS Tayside admitted there is a problem but stressed that efforts are being made to rectify the situation.
