A female drugs gang was jailed for a combined total of nearly eight years after being involved in a £10,000 heroin handover.
Perth Sheriff Court heard how the trio were caught red-handed after the bag of drugs burst and spilled over their car and on the ground outside Perth Railway Station.
Depute fiscal Carol Whyte said that Amelia McCracken, 30, and Natalie Carmichael, 26, from Dundee, had arranged to meet Margaret Haldane, 37, at the station to collect the drugs package.
Police received a tip-off about McCracken’s car and two passing officers watched as Haldane, from the Glasgow area, got off a train and got into the vehicle.
A package was handed over and she got out to head back into the station. Officers called for back-up and swooped on the trio in the station car park.
Ms Whyte said the heroin recovered had a potential street value of £10,320 and that none of the trio gave any explanation during interviews.
Haldane’s solicitor, Mr Murphy, said she agreed to carry the drugs to Perth on October 27 because she wanted to raise money for Christmas presents for her children.
Solicitor Amy Fox said the other two accused had lost their home on Atholl Street and two dogs as a result of their arrest.
All three admitted being concerned in the supply of heroin in Perth in October.
McCracken was jailed for 44 months, Carmichael for 36 months and Haldane for 15 months.
