A teenager who tried to gouge the eyes of a policeman spent about £6,000 on alcohol in just 90 days.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis read out details of a background report on Adele McTeir, 19, of Milton Keynes, at Perth Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
He said: “A report prepared by the Thames Valley Probation area states that the accused spent £6,000 on alcohol in 90 days, which I make to be an average of £75 per day, so on the day of this offence she would not be in any state to act rationally.”
Depute fiscal Jim Eodanable said four officers were in a property looking for another individual when they “became aware” of the accused standing between them and this man.
“One officer put himself in front of the accused to stop her interfering but she tried to take hold of his head and gouge his eyes,” he said.
McTeir had admitted that on June 30 at Colville House, Leadenflower Road, Crieff, she obstructed four police officers and attempted to pull them away from a lawfully detained person.
She also admitted that on the same date and location, she attempted to seize an officer by the head and gouge his eyes.
McTeir was ordered to carry out 140 hours’ unpaid work.
