A photo depicting an early Hollywood superstar in a film about The Black Watch is set to be auctioned in America.
The image, one of three in the same lot, shows Myrna Loy in a publicity shot for the 1929 film The Black Watch.
The movie star, whose maternal grandmother was a Scot, gazes seductively into the camera while strumming what appears to be a mandolin.
The Black Watch, featuring a young John Wayne as an extra, tells the tale of a captain from the regiment who is sent on a secret assignment to India to rescue captured British soldiers and is mistakenly labelled a coward.
Loy depicts a character called Yasmani, a girl worshiped by a local tribe who agrees to help the captain and is killed by her followers.
The group is expected to fetch $300 at Bonham’s Entertainment Memorabilia sale in Los Angeles on May 5.
