Perth teen knocked victim’s tooth out during attack

A teenager who carried out two brutal assaults has been handed a community payback order.

Liam Cain will have to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work after earlier admitting that he hit a young man so hard that he lost a tooth.

The 16-year-old attacked James Sharp on November 1 last year and just two months later, in January this year, he carried out another assault, this time on a 14-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Solicitor Rosie Scott, defending, told Perth Sheriff Court that Cain “fully accepted” the serious nature of the offence.

At Perth Sheriff Court, Sheriff Lindsay Foulis handed Cain a six-month supervision order in addition to the unpaid work.

The sheriff had earlier warned Cain, of Firbank Road, Perth, that he faced a period in detention for the assaults.

Sherriff Foulis said: “The first assault is serious because Mr Sharp was hit on the face by yourself. The second assault is serious because the victim this time is a few years younger than yourself and is likely to be vulnerable.”
