May Smith, co-founder of the popular Fisher Tours, has died aged 76.
Born in Dundee, Mrs Smith was a trained florist who became a clippie on the buses and worked alongside her husband, Ron, for Greyhound Buses.
The pair left Greyhound Buses in 1990 and started a new venture Fisher Tours. It began with just one coach in an office located in Exchange Street, Dundee.
May’s maiden name was Fisher and the coach tours to lochs and glens throughout Scotland became popular, particularly with pensioners in Tayside.
The business expanded and the tours included trips to the Continent. Ron and May moved to Blairgowrie in 1997 and retired from Fisher Tours in 2000.
The couple were described as “soulmates” by their family, and May was known for “doting” on her grandchildren and also thrived on being busy.
A service of thanksgiving in memory of May was held at Dundee Crematorium.
