A Perth man suffered more than a close shave with the law as his personal grooming regime secured him an 11-month prison sentence.
Thrown out by his partner after failing to convince her he was serious about dealing with his drug addiction, Frederick Mills first threatened and then assaulted her.
He’d returned to her home in Perth to pick up a shaving kit and some medication, only to be told to leave by Catherine Gowling.
Mills did so, Perth Sheriff Court heard, though not before battering on her door, shouting and swearing at her and threatening to kill her.
Three days later, Miss Gowling was at a friend’s home, when Mills arrived and apologised to her for the earlier unpleasantness.
Within a fairly short time they were again in conflict and Mills eventually grabbed his partner by the wrist in a bid to prevent her from dialling 999 on her mobile telephone. She sustained bruising to her wrist.
Mills, 52, of Victoria Street, admitted shouting and swearing at an address in Grampian Court on May 21 and also assaulting Ms Gowling to her injury in St Andrew’s Street on May 24.
Sheriff Alasdair Brown said that given Mills’ numerous previous convictions for assault, a term of imprisonment was appropriate.
