An investigation is under way after a police car responding to an emergency call hit a cyclist in Perth.
The patrol car, which was operating its blue lights and sirens, drove over Perth Bridge before colliding with the cyclist at the Tay Street junction on Tuesday night.
He escaped with minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.
Businessman Danny Clifford was driving into Perth when he saw the crash.
He said: “I watched him go straight over the top of the bonnet and land on the floor at the other side.
“He hit his head off the bonnet but he was still holding on to his bike, which got dragged under the front of the car.
“Three coppers got out to give him first aid.
“I was quite shocked. It’s not often you see someone hit a car or being hit by a car particularly an emergency vehicle.
“At the time I thought he was seriously injured, but he propped himself up and you could see him shaking his head.”
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “Tayside Division can confirm that a patrol car which was attending an urgent call was involved in a collision with a cyclist at 8.30pm on Tuesday, July 9 at Tay Street, Perth.
“The cyclist suffered a very slight injury and did not require medical attention. Enquiries are continuing to establish the full set of circumstances. No one has been suspended.”
