The Crown Office has confirmed a special team is looking into the death of a Perth pensioner.
Members of the Scottish Fatalities Investigation Unit (SFIU) are conducting inquiries following the death of 88-year-old Margaret Ferrie, who died in February in Perth Royal Infirmary (PRI) after suffering internal bleeding.
It is understood her daughter, Brenda Rennie, and husband, Bill, have asked NHS Tayside for answers regarding her death amid claims she suffered internal injuries when she fell from her hospital bed.
The pensioner was admitted to PRI in January after suffering a diabetic hypoglycaemic attack at her Perth home.
Last night a spokesman for the Crown Office confirmed the matter had now been passed to a specialist team.
They said: “The procurator fiscal has received a report in connection with the death of an 88-year-old woman at Perth Royal Infirmary on February 5.”
A spokesman for Police Scotland added: “We were asked by the procurator fiscal to undertake an investigation.
“That investigation is now complete and a full report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal for consideration.”
A spokeswoman for NHS Tayside confirmed they are also looking into the matter.
“We are currently carrying out an investigation into this case and as such it would be inappropriate for us to comment further,” she said.
