A Tayside man who stabbed another man in the head with a screwdriver is to appeal against his sentence.
John Newlands was told he would be locked up for three years and two months.
Newlands, 44, was jailed after he forced his way into William Travers’ home in January 2012 and repeatedly stabbed him with a screwdriver, narrowly missing his eye.
Newlands also broke Mr Travers’ nose during the attack.
During the trial, Perth Sherrif Court heard Newlands had been furious with Mr Travers’s decision to marry outside the travelling community.
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Courts Service said: “There will be an appeal hearing on July 30 at Edinburgh High Court. The appeal is against the severity of the sentence only.”
Meanwhile, a Fife man will appeal against the sentence he received for trying to smuggle drugs into T in the Park last year.
Scott Reddington, 29, was caught by police at the festival when he was seen acting suspiciously at a campsite entrance.
Before police could search him, he threw more than £500 worth of cocaine to the floor.
In May, the former satellite TV installer received a 27-month jail sentence at Perth Sheriff Court.
A Scottish Courts Service spokeswoman said Reddington’s appeal was scheduled for August 6 at the High Court in Edinburgh.
