It may be small, but a young osprey chick is proving it has a big attitude.
Despite being confined to its lofty position above Loch of the Lowes, the four-week-old raptor is managing to keep its parents on their toes.
Showing it is taking after its record-breaking mother, the offspring of Lady the osprey has unveiled a feisty side.
Wildlife interpretation officer Lindsey Gibb said: “The male was on the nest with the chick and he was footering around with his back to it, waving his tail feathers over the chick’s head.
“Well, this was too much for the chick and you could see it with its mouth open, following the feathers until the tiny beak went snap and the chick had a mouthful of dad’s tail feathers.”
Over the next few weeks, Lady will watch as her 50th chick fledges the nest at the Dunkeld reserve.
