A fatal accident inquiry may be held into the death of a Perth prison inmate.
Richard Lindsay was taken to Perth Royal Infirmary after becoming ill in the prison but died at the hospital on Tuesday.
The 32-year-old had spent three days in prison after being convicted of drug and shoplifting offences at Perth Sheriff Court on Friday.
A spokesman for the Scottish Prison Service said: ”The police have been advised and the matter will be reported to the procurator fiscal.
”A fatal accident inquiry may be held in due course.”
Mr Lindsay is the second Perth Prison inmate to die in a little more than a fortnight. Scott Welch (42) was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee on February 20 but passed away.
