An accident on the A90 near Glencarse caused major traffic delays on Wednesday evening.
The accident happened shortly after 5pm and led to major tailbacks of evening rush-hour traffic heading into Dundee.
A car overturned on Perth to Dundee route, blocking the eastbound lane of the dual carriageway.
The accident brought a flurry of emergency vehicles, including three fire appliances, to the scene around a mile east of Kinfauns.
Crews used cutting equipment to remove a casualty from the vehicle, which had turned on to its side on the inside lane.
A spokesman for Fire and Rescue Scotland said: “Crews from Perth attended following reports that two people were trapped within the vehicle.
“One was released before our arrival but we were required to use hydraulic cutting equipment to release the other casualty.”
The Scottish Ambulance Service offered treatment to both casualties.
It is understood the trapped man suffered a shoulder injury. He was placed on a stretcher for transport to hospital after he was released from the vehicle.
As emergency crews worked, tailbacks of more than three miles built up towards Perth and over the Friarton Bridge.
Police warned drivers to expect lengthy delays and try to avoid the area if possible.
The road was fully reopened around 8pm.
