Mystery still surrounds the grim discovery of a body discovered near a Highland Perthshire beauty spot almost a month after the initial find.
Police said there was “no update” on identifying human remains found in remote woodland in the vicinity of the Loch of the Lowes nature reserve visitor centre on Thursday, April 25.
The Courier understands police are awaiting DNA results of the male corpse which was found by a walker. Police were contacted and the area was cordoned off, with a road that skirts the loch also being closed for a period.
It’s believed the body had been there for some time and that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. The Courier also understands the man was not from the local area.
The body was taken to the mortuary in Dundee where a post-mortem was carried out and police pathologists carried out a series of tests.
Officers have also been looking at how the body came to be in the remote woodland and trying to establish how long it was there.
A police spokesman said: “There’s no update on the identification of this male.”
