Perthshire florist lands Chelsea flower show prize
ByThe Courier Reporter
A Perthshire florist was the toast of the Chelsea flower show after beating off stiff competition to land a prestigious title.
Paula McLagan, 25, from Blairgowrie, was named Young Florist of the Year, much to the delight of her colleagues at Something Special Flowers in the town.
“In our industry this is top of the tree, the best of the best,” said her aunt, Jillian Page, who works alongside her.
“I spoke to Paula on the phone and she is thrilled but completely shocked.”
Mrs Page had only just returned to Scotland having travelled down with Paula to London as part of the back-up team.
Paula had worked overnight on her arrangement which was to represent someone, or something, associated with the Chelsea flower show, which is celebrating its centenary.
She chose to create an arrangement reflecting the medals presented to competitors gold, silver gilt, silver and bronze.
