Ground Control to Major Tim this is Comrie calling.
It has been revealed the British astronaut has strong Perthshire links and, when his feet are firmly on the ground, is a regular visitor.
Major Peake counts the Shaky Toun as one of his favourite places.
His wife Rebecca grew up in Comrie and still returns to visit relatives, bringing her family with her.
A former pupil of the local primary school and Morrison’s Academy, Crieff, Mrs Peake revealed she has passed her passion for Perthshire on to their two children.
“I loved growing up in Comrie and we’re both very keen for our children to experience the family atmosphere of the village,” she said.
“We love coming to Comrie we have family and friends here and, while we are living abroad, we think of it as our UK base.
“Our eldest son loves participating in the Comrie Fortnight activities and he loves the pipe band.”
There might not be any time for such frolics this year, however, as Major Peake undergoes rigorous training in preparation for his space adventure.
So far, the 41-year-old has spent 12 days living and working underwater to simulate the conditions he will face on his five-month residence at the International Space Station.
