Red letter day as Perthshire postal service gets stamp of approval
BySandra Gray
Perth and Kinross residents enjoyed a red letter day when it was revealed they receive one of the best postal services in the UK.
An independent quality of service report commissioned by Royal Mail found the PH postcode beat annual targets for first class mail. During 2012 and 2013, 94.4% of stamped and franked mail arrived the next day, beating the set target of 93%.
Perhaps even more impressively, this comes when Royal Mail reported “significant” disruptions following two periods of prolonged severe weather and the effect of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Regional delivery director Paul Kelly said: “Royal Mail’s postmen and women in the PH postcode area work extremely hard to deliver to some of the most demanding quality of service standards in Europe.
“In a survey, eight out of 10 Royal Mail customers were pleased with the helpfulness of our postmen and women and it is pleasing to see how we have performed against the standard retail parcel targets set.”
