Final preparations are being made for one of the biggest motorsport events of the year.
The route for the Colin McRae Forest Stages Rally has been finalised and it will make its way through Highland Perthshire.
Organiser Coltness Car Club has revealed that there will be six special stages to test the nerve of drivers and give spectators the chance to see rallying at its best.
This year’s event is on October 5 and will start from Aberfeldy, with the first car being flagged off at 7.30am.
The driving teams will then tackle two stages in Craigvinean Forest, near Dunkeld, before returning to Aberfeldy for their first service.
Following this competitors will have to face the tough Errochty test, overlooking Tummel Bridge before heading to Kindrogan and Blackcraig.
Those who survive one of the biggest challenges of the forest stages will then make their way to Blairgowrie for a final chance to check their vehicles. The last stage takes drivers back to Craigvinean to the “green hell” of the tree-cloaked slopes.
These six stages of the Colin McRae Rally are often regarded as a real test of man and machine, as competitors are timed to a tenth of a second, so it will be a real white-knuckle ride to victory.
As always, there will be plenty of opportunity for rally fans to get a glimpse of the action.
Coltness Car Club’s rally route team have ensured there are suitable spectator points, with easy access to stages and car parking and details of these will be released in the coming weeks.
Anyone wishing to experience the more technical side of the event is invited to become a marshal.
Each stage requires between 20 and 40 volunteers for timekeeping duties, providing assistance and ensuring the safety of competitors, spectators and other officials.
