A man who attacked and abused a group of strangers in a racially-aggravated manner has been told his drunken outburst may haunt him for the rest of his life.
Mateusz Fleszar was heavily under the influence of alcohol when he approached a group of four McDonald’s staff as they left work on Hogmanay.
Perth Sheriff Court was told the witnesses were all of “Indian descent” and had been subjected to sustained abuse and assault by the 21-year-old.
Fleszar, of Main Street, Methven, admitted assaulting two men in Perth’s Dunkeld Road on December 31 2012 by repeatedly punching them on the head, to their injury.
He also admitted acting in a racially-aggravated manner that caused alarm or distress to the four men.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis told the accused: “What a situation overconsumption of alcohol places people in.
“The fact of the matter is your convictions here may cause problems with certain areas of employment.”
He ordered Fleszar to pay his victims £200 compensation and made him subject to a community payback order, with a condition he undertake 150 hours’ unpaid work.
