Motorists on a stretch of the A9 faced frustrating delays after a car overturned near Blair Atholl on Sunday.
The one-vehicle accident forced the closure of the road to all traffic on the southbound stretch from shortly after 3pm.
The female passenger of the car was cut free by firefighters from Dunkeld and Pitlochry, and rushed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
A police spokesman said her injuries were not as bad as first feared but could give no further details.
The accident happened on the single carriageway stretch of road shortly before the crossing over the River Garry, immediately after the northbound turn for Blair Atholl.
Smaller vehicles travelling south were diverted through the village. However, HGVs were forced to wait for the road to be cleared.
The road was reopened around an hour and a half after the crash.
Safety campaigners, backed by The Courier, have long fought for the length of the A9 to be made dual carriageway between Perth and Inverness.
An online petition calling for the work to be undertaken has attracted more than 20,000 signatures.
The Scottish Government has embarked on a £3 billion programme to remove 80 miles of remaining single carriageway by 2025.
