Perthshire pupils flying high at Scottish Schools Gymnastics Championships

Gymnasts from Perth and Kinross schools tumbled their way to success at a national competition.
The Scottish Schools Gymnastics Championships were held at Bell’s Sports Centre and the area was represented by teams from Perth High, Crieff High, Perth Academy, Kinross High, St John’s Academy, Oakbank, Longforgan and Moncreiffe primaries and the Community School of Auchterarder, who all qualified through the regional heats.
Bronze medals were won by Longforgan Primary School in the pre-level one competition and Oakbank Primary School, who were third in the level two primary competition.
Oakbank continued its success with the level three team claiming first place and the Scottish Schools Champion title for the second year in a row.
In the secondary competition, Perth Academy were runners-up in the secondary level one competition, with St John’s Academy team winning bronze in their first national competition.
Also, Iona Jackson from Oakbank and Morgan Oates from St John’s won gold medals for having the highest individual scores at their respective levels.
