Good Crieff honest shopper returns £2,500 found in town supermarket
ByThe Courier Reporter
A Crieff businessman has praised the honesty of a shopper who returned £2,500 he left in a local store saying “Scotland must be the only place on Earth” where such a thing would happen.
The man had exchanged the cash from euros at Crieff Post Office before going to do some shopping at the Town Green supermarket.
But he accidentally left the money in an envelope in the shopping basket after paying for his purchases.
Fortunately, the next customer to use the basket immediately handed the envelope to staff, who contacted local police.
Officers were quickly able to trace the man and reunite him with his lost money.
The man, who did not wish to be named, has rewarded the honest finders.
He said: “Scotland must be the only place left on Earth these days where you can lose that sort of money and expect to see it again.”
