A drug addict who stole from a charity for sick children has been jailed for a total of 10 months.
Alexander McPhail admitted taking a hip flask, bottle opener and two candles from the CHAS shop in High Street, Kinross, on December 22 last year.
The shop raises funds for children’s hospices in Scotland. Just two days later McPhail struck again and made off with a charity box, which is thought to have contained around £100.
The 33-year-old also admitted that on December 23 he stole meat from the Co-op in High Street, Kinross, and returned for more on January 9. On January 29 he stole miscellaneous food stuffs from the same store.
At Perth Sheriff Court Sheriff Fletcher handed McPhail, of Viewfar Road, Kinross, two concurrent six month sentences for the thefts from the CHAS shop and for one of the meat thefts, as well as two concurrent four-month sentences for the other offences.
He will serve a total of 10 months in jail for the offences.
