Kilgraston School’s director of sport and double Olympian Pauline Stott is part of an innovative role-model programme inspiring the next generation of sporting superstars.
Champions in Schools puts Scotland’s top international athletes in the classroom and Pauline, a hockey star who played at both the Atlanta and SydneyOlympics, has joined athletes such as Scotland rugby forward Ross Ford and cyclist Mark Beaumont in delivering workshops on goal-setting, fitness, nutrition and winning attitudes.
Her most recent talks have been at Perth High School and Pauline has three further visits planned there over the coming months. The positive impact of role models in sport and everyday life is well recognised.
Research shows that pupils who take part in the programme show a marked increase in positive attitude, ambition, perseverance and effort.
Kilgraston principal Frank Thompson said: “Mrs Stott is a role model to many of the girls at Kilgraston.
“Her daughter’s selection for Scotland Under 16 follows the recent success of another of Pauline’s pupils, Katie Robertson, who at the age of 16 has been selected for Scotland U18s.
“Having an Olympic athlete as a daily role model speaks powerfully to all our pupils that the highest level of success is possible and I am delighted that Mrs Stott is inspiring girls at Kilgraston and pupils in the wider community.”
