Racing fans are odds on to enjoy a memorable year at one of Scotland’s oldest racecourses.
Celebrations to mark 400 years of horseracing in the Fair City will get off to a flying start this week, with the popular three-day Perth Festival.
Organisers have already shown they are in the party mood by increasing the prize money fund by 30%, with the cash pot for trainers and riders now sitting at almost £810,000.
They have also introduced a new picnic pavilion, which will feature music and hog roasts as part of the event taking place between Wednesday and Friday.
For those who prefer the finer things in life, the Dewhurst stand has been upgraded and guests can now watch horses cross the finish line from the comfort of their own private balcony.
Manager at Perth Racecourse Sam Morshead said: “Every year the Perth Festival is an exciting event for us as it marks the start of the racing season. This year holds even more importance that usual as it marks the start of our celebrations of 400 years of racing.”
