A £1.2 million upgrade of the Kinross waste water network has been carried out in a bid to help improve the local environment.
As part of the Scottish Water initiative, a pumping station has been refurbished at Loch Leven over the past seven months.
Project manager Peter Beresford said: “This maintenance project at Loch Leven waste water pumping station will ensure we continue to help protect and improve the natural environment in the area.
“By refurbishing and replacing existing equipment we will ensure we continue to meet stringent government regulations and provide a quality service to the community now and for many years to come.”
The station’s capacity has been increased with the installation of larger pumps, enabling waste water to be pumped more efficiently onwards for treatment.
Regional community manager Anne-Marie Dewar added: “The pumping station at Loch Leven plays a very important role in the local waste water network and this investment will ensure that it continues to provide a first-class service for many years to come.”
