A police hunt has been launched after a man was shot outside a bar in Perth city centre.
Sandy Lumsden suffered a wound to his abdomen and was treated at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, following the incident on the corner of South Methven Street around 1.20am on Sunday.
As a result, police patrols will be increased as the force carry out inquiries.
It is understood Mr Lumsden believed to be aged in his forties may have been shot by an air rifle and that Police Scotland Tayside Division have contacted Dickens bar to review CCTV footage.
The pub was closed at the time of the incident.
The Courier contacted Mr Lumsden’s family but they did not wish to comment on the incident.
Police spoke to Mr Lumsden following the shooting and he initially declined medical treatment.
However, an ambulance was flagged down at the junction of Letham Road and Burghmuir Road, Perth, at around 2.40am.
A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said a man was initially taken to Perth Royal Infirmary but later transferred to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, where he was treated for puncture wounds to his abdomen.
