Castle Huntly prisoners have made dozens of formal complaints about everything from the quality of food to the privileges they get for good behaviour.
Figures released to The Courier by the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) under freedom of information legislation show that 75 grievances were submitted in 2011.
The Longforgan facility houses around 200 men who are nearing the end of sentences of 18 months or more. SPS listed around 25 reasons for complaints but a spokeswoman declined to release details about individual grievances.
On the list were gripes about laundry, telephones, clothing, community work placements, special escorted leave, the prison regime, as well as one allegation about bullying submitted in 2010.
There were 16 complaints about home leave, making it the biggest bugbear for convicts at Castle Huntly in 2011.
