The 30th Loch Leven Half Marathon brought a packed field of runners to Kinross-shire on Sunday.
The event is the highlight of Kinross Road Runners’ year and was once again accompanied by a fair and fun day and the Loch Leven Pipe Band Contest.
As the runners set out from the community campus at 1pm, they were accompanied by the sounds of pipe bands from across Scotland, including hosts the Kinross Pipe Band.
The largest-ever field of 529 runners took on the half marathon challenge, including a number of Scotland’s top club runners, together with locals and a fair selection of holidaymakers.
“It was a pretty hard day’s running, given the strong wind, so there were no fast times,” said Kinross Road Runners’ Stephen Crawford.
“Everyone really enjoyed it, however, and, thankfully, it stayed dry throughout. Support came from clubs across the country and we had quite a number of runners from Canada, Australia and the USA.
“One chap cycled from Edinburgh to run the half marathon before jumping back on his bike to cycle home.”
Youngsters were also able to get in on the action by taking part in the Swansacre Playgroup’s fun run for under 12s before the day finished with one final performance by the massed pipe bands.
