A 16-year-old boy from Fife who suffered a head injury at T in the Park in the early hours of Monday has thanked friends for their support after being discharged from hospital.
The Levenmouth teenager, named locally as Aidan Landels, told friends on Twitter: “That’s me out of hospital and alive. Thanks for all your texts and everything.”
It contrasted with his final tweet before heading off to the festival on Thursday, which said: “Goodbye iPhone, goodbye bed, goodbye shower Hello T in the Park.”
Police said on Monday the teenager had been in the 24-hour breakfast bar in Sunset Strip at the festival shortly after 4am and had been seen dancing on a table.
Soon after, emergency services were contacted and he was treated at the venue by paramedics before being taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital.
His condition was assessed on Monday but was not life-threatening.
His family had been fully informed and had been with him at hospital.
Police said there were no apparent suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
However, Police Scotland has requested anyone in the area at the time of the incident contacts them on 101.
Friends of the teenager told on Twitter of what they had heard about the incident.
One said: “He was out cold for a day and still in hospital. He fell off a table banged his head off a rock.”
Police revealed on Monday the number of people arrested at T in the Park this year had risen to 91, compared with 30 last year.
They said the majority of incidents at the festival were in relation to minor drugs offences and petty crimes.
There were no reported signs of the fake ecstasy tablets officers had warned could be used over the weekend.
A total of 1,160 festival-goers needed medical treatment, mostly for sun-related ailments such as dehydration.
