Prisoners at Castle Huntly taken on a day’s fly-fishing
ByAndrew Liddle
Prisoners at Castle Huntly are being sent fly-fishing to give them “something productive” to do, it has been reported.
A number of inmates have been photographed enjoying the sport, which prison bosses claim will help them to relax and develop a hobby.
The Scottish Tories have hit out at the reports. A spokesman said: “Many people will be surprised to learn that efforts to tackle reoffending should include courses on fly-fishing.”
A Scottish Prison Services spokesman said prisoners had to save up their “wages” in order to take part in the activity.
