A man who kicked out at a police officer after being caught drunkenly stumbling into a neighbour’s house has been jailed for three months.
Philip Doris left residents of the property on Nimmo Avenue, Perth, terrified when he refused to leave, despite repeated requests.
Officers from Tayside Police were called to the address and found the 42-year-old still within the house.
Depute fiscal Stuart Richard said: “He was asked to leave, which he did.
“The police weren’t convinced he was going to stay away, so they hung about the area.
“He came back into view, heading for the same house he had been in, so he was spoken to again. He was so drunk that, when this happened, he fell over.”
When police officers tried to get him back on his feet, he lashed out and kicked one in the stomach.
Solicitor John McLaughlin said his client had turned over a new leaf and was dealing with alcohol and drug problems.
Doris, of Nimmo Avenue, admitted that on January 20 last year, at his home address, he assaulted a special constable by kicking him in the stomach.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis said jail was the only realistic option.
