A Perth man who berated a witness he blamed for landing him behind bars found himself jailed again.
Martin Reeves, of Stanley Crescent, was imprisoned for three months after he shouted and swore at his victim and threatened to throw him in the River Tay.
The 53-year-old found himself remanded in custody earlier this year after being found guilty of a charge of assault, with the complainer among those who gave evidence against him.
Depute fiscal John Malpass told the court: “The complainer assists people by dispensing soup to those who are less fortunate.
“He was doing so on the North Inch in Perth on February 7 when the accused approached and began shouting at him, branding him ‘Judas Iscariot’.”
Solicitor Paul Ralph said his client accepted his actions had been unacceptable.
“At the time Mr Reeves felt that he had been robbed of a month of his life and blamed the complainer. He is realistic enough to know that the court has to mark behaviour of this sort towards people who have been witnesses.”
Reeves admitted assaulting his victim by shouting and swearing at him, threatening to throw him in the Tay and committing a breach of the peace.
Sheriff Michael Fletcher told the accused he had committed a serious offence.
