A 95-year-old Aberfeldy man has lost a four-figure sum after being conned by bogus workmen.
Police are warning householders to be on their guard after the heartless theft.
Two men called at the man’s home offering to carry out improvements on the roof of his house. They said they needed a cheque to obtain materials.
The victim provided them with the cheque and they disappeared.
The thieves struck between 12pm and 12.45pm on Wednesday March 13.
One of the men is described as being about 42-48, 5ft 8in, and of medium build.
A younger man aged 17-18 was also seen in the company of the men.
The men were driving a silver hatchback car.
The following day, an 83-year old woman was also the target of a bogus workman in the Letham area of Perth.
The man called at the victim’s home around noon on Thursday March 14 claiming to have cut down a branch off one of her trees and offered to carry out further gardening services, which she refused.
Police are asking neighbours to look out for one another particularly if they have elderly or vulnerable neighbours and report any suspicious activity to the police.
Anyone with information should call 101, or speak to any officer.
