A pregnant woman who had drunk at least three glasses of wine before she got behind the wheel was fined £400 at Perth Sheriff Court.
Lorraine Townsley (34), of Uphall, West Lothian, admitted that on February 23 in Station Road, Kinross, she drove with excess alcohol 81 mics.
Depute fiscal John Malpass said that police officers noticed the accused driving her car in an “erratic” manner at around 1am. They stopped her and could smell alcohol on her breath.
Solicitor Billy Sommerville, defending, said his client would lose her job as a result of the court case.
He said: “My client was out with her partner for a meal and thought she had three glasses of wine. She thought she was all right to drive and intended to stay with relatives.”
However, Sherifff Charles McNair told her: “Anybody over twice the limit should know they can’t drive. It’s a very high reading.”
