Highland Perthshire collision claims tourist’s life

A holidaymaker was the victim of a tragic road accident in Highland Perthshire on Saturday night.
The man, who police said was 70, was walking on Kirkmichael Road, near to the Moulin Hotel in the village of Moulin, when he was involved in a collision with a car.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at around midnight, with a retained fire crew from Pitlochry on the scene within minutes. They found the casualty trapped beneath the vehicle.
They were joined by colleagues from Dunkeld and the fire crews used air bags to lift the car to allow paramedics to gain access.
Sadly the casualty was pronounced dead at the scene. Police confirmed that the man was a Dutch tourist but his identity has not yet been released. Officers are in contact with the man’s relatives in the Netherlands.
A 54-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the incident and is expected to appear at Perth Sheriff Court.
Police are still carrying out their inquiries and officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
