Moncreiffe Hill Wood blooms a seasonal splash of colour

After a wet start to the week, the sun shone on the riot of colour that has emerged at Moncreiffe Hill Wood.
As part of a programme by Woodland Trust Scotland, a carpet of wildflowers has been planted at the Perth visitor spot.
The innovative project, which includes a sculpture trail and new paths, aims to encourage more people to the wood, as well as improving biodiversity.
Site manager Jill Aitken commented, “The flowers in full bloom are a magnificent sight and we hope they will encourage people to visit the site and soak in the vibrant colours.
“The display won’t last for ever, so people should head down to Moncreiffe Hill Wood before they disappear.”
The cornflowers and poppies were sown using a technique that encourages them while invasive weeds struggle.
