Olympics architect to design Perth’s new swimming pool
ByThe Courier Reporter
THE FIRM behind the world-renowned Olympic aquatics centre in London has been appointed to design the new Perth leisure pool, The Courier can reveal.
Swimming pool specialist S&P Architects has been selected to create the vision for the £15 million Live Active Leisure Park as the Fair City taps into the Olympics legacy.
The company has created a host of innovative structures, including the Olympic pool, where the likes of Michael Phelps and Missy Franklin achieved glory.
It was also delivery architect on the Lee Valley White Water Centre where the games’ paddle sports took place and it carried out the recent £37 million refurbishment of the Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh.
The new Perth complex will replace the Dewars Centre and leisure pool. They are run by Live Active Leisure (LAL), which operates municipal sports facilities in Perth and Kinross.
It will be at the heart of sports and leisure provision for Perth and the surrounding area for decades to come.
