A PERTHSHIRE street was sealed off yesterday as part of a major drugs investigation.
Drugs with an estimated street value of up to £350,000 were seized during a police raid on a flat in Coupar Angus on Saturday night.
The officers discovered a “large number” of cannabis plants at an address in Athole Street.
Yesterday the police closed Athole Street from Gray Street to The Cross for most of the day to allow for the recovery of the plants and any other items associated with the case.
It is understood that as many as 600 plants were discovered by the uniformed officers who carried out the raid and all the drugs had to be removed as evidence.
A 26-year-old Chinese man appeared at Perth Sheriff Court on Monday in connection with the incident.
Yan Ping He (26), of no fixed abode, is accused of being concerned in the supply of cannabis and producing the controlled drug between October 10 and December 16 this year.
Appearing in private, he made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody. The case was continued for further examination.
Yesterday’s road closure was the latest stage of the investigation.
A police presence was maintained outside the property involved since the discovery at the weekend.
