Police hunt man after ‘suspicious incident’ in Alyth
ByThe Courier Reporter
POLICE ARE hunting a man who alarmed an 11-year-old girl at Alyth Primary School in what has been described as a “suspicious incident”.
The youngster was returning to class across the school playing fields at around 1.10pm on Wednesday when the man called out to her from the adjacent Albert Road.
She ignored him and ran back to school.
It is understood that the unknown man drove off in a bright blue “old-style” car.
A spokesman for police said: “Once back at school she told staff what had happened and her parents and the police were contacted.
“The girl did exactly the right thing by ignoring the stranger and then immediately telling trusted adults what had happened.”
The man is described as being in his forties, around 6ft and of slim build, with a deep voice and local accent.
Police said it was “possible” there was an innocent explanation for the man’s actions but officers are keen to trace him so they can establish the full set of circumstances.
The man, or anyone who knows who he might be, is asked to contact police on 0300 111 2222.
