Plans for 64 houses at the former Friarton Prison site in Perth were unveiled at a public exhibition on Wednesday.
Developer Bellway Homes is seeking to buy the land off Edinburgh Road, which used to house the young offenders’ unit.
The firm is seeking public comment on its plans ahead of submitting a planning application to Perth and Kinross Council.
The proposal is for two-storey, three-to-five bedroom homes, with improved access to the site from Edinburgh Road. The development would also involve a new access off Rhynd Road.
In addition. the plans show that a new roundabout would be built on Edinburgh Road, close to the existing entrance to the site, which would give access to the Friarton Business Park.
It is proposed to submit a planning application, taking account of the results of the public consultation and discussions with planners.
Friarton became surplus to Scottish Prison Service requirements and was placed on the open market last June.
