The blaze near Kinfauns on the Perth to Dundee A90 was reported shortly before 4.30am. A trailer was engulfed by fire and at the height of the incident four appliances were involved in relaying water to the scene. The incident, plus ongoing roadworks on the Friarton Bridge, led to long tailbacks for motorists. Some reported delays of over two hours. Tayside Fire and Rescue officer Dave Stapley reported that the lorry was carrying a load of bitumen blocks and charcoal. Fire units were still at the scene well into the morning.
