A young man struck a stranger on the head with a bottle at a Perth nightclub, the city’s sheriff court heard.
Sean Mannion was ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work when he appeared in court to answer the charge.
The teenager slapped his victim on the face and then hit him with the bottle, causing him injury, at the Zoo nightclub in Canal Street on October 14.
The man had to be taken by ambulance to Perth Royal Infirmary, where cuts measuring one and two centimetres were glued by medical staff.
The court was told that the assault had been captured on CCTV, with 17-year-old Mannion, of Kestrel Way, apprehended a short time after leaving the venue.
When spoken to by police officers, he admitted what he had done.
He told them: “Aye, I done it. It was me”.
The first offender, who is currently undertaking a sports course at college, was made subject to a nine-month community payback order.
